Superbrawl: Canada / England / France

Team France ( 54 - 385 ) Team England
Team England ( 259 - 145 ) Team Canada
Team France ( 96 - 450 ) Team Canada

For our first official international event, Team France put the bar high in inviting Team Canada and Team England for a tournament on the French land. The sports complex of Nantes hosted 1300 people on Saturday, Feb. 15th, for a whole afternoon and evening of bouts, starting with France/England, then England/Canada and Canada/France to finish with. (Once again, congratulations to the Nantes Derby Girls for the successful organization and hosting of the event!)
I will not report on the games because the news are not that fresh anymore and because Team Canada did it pretty well already! I was disconnected for a while (two months to get the Internet!) which made the keeping up-to-date of the blog tricky (amongst other things).
Still, let's add a little French perspective to the Canadian summary!

For Team France it was not a matter of winning - such an outcome being highly improbable at our stage of national development, but of:
  1. Testing the water and getting an idea of the top of the spectrum of the international level;
  2. Going down in history in doing the first-ever international tournament with national teams in France with the French Team... And while we were at it, why not inviting the upper crust? More show, more challenge, more balls.

West Track Story 2013

One year after "4 Matchs et 1 Entraînement", the tournament concept of the Nantes Derby Girls evolves into "West Track Story". Bigger, better, harder, stronger.

The Parisian Quedalles (our B-Team) and the Duchesses of Nantes have reenlisted this year too. The players of the capital are ready to fight for the title they won last year.
Two European teams have made the trip to complete the casting: The Belgian Brussels Derby Pixies and the English Birmingham Blitz Dames.

Key-words: show and performance!

The event took place on Saturday March, 9th from 12AM to 10PM, an afternoon during which four bouts were going to follow one another.

BIRMINGHAM BLITZ DAMES : 181 // 97 : DUCHESSES OF NANTES
• The Parisians were not playing the first game so that they could have a look at their potential future opponents, Nantes and Birmingham. The latters, whose captain Violet Attack was in Team England 2011, imposed their style -- and their strong built -- right away, leaving no chance to the Duchesses despite their determination.
In the meantime, the Quedalles were busy fixing unfortunate mishaps: a lost mouthguard replaced by a team-mate's spare one, molded at the last minute thanks to the kettle of the food stand, or a broken plate and a desperate seach for substitute skates in size 36, amongst other stressing surprises. Routine, right?

Opération Tonnerre: PRG Vs. Go-Go Gent

I haven’t been writing much lately – I mean, actually I did write a lot, for work, which is why I couldn’t take care of this blog. Still I take the time to report on the match of last weekend Opération Tonnerre, featuring the Paris RollerGirls Vs. the Gent Go-Go RollerGirls.

ORGANIZATION & BERCY VENUE
We had managed to get the Bercy Venue just like for Goldfinger against Malmö last June, after weeks of pleading and harassing for them to give us a second chance. We were quite late on the schedule last time and they didn’t like it at all.

This time we had learned from our previous mistakes and the organization was close to perfection, so that the keeper of the gym even came to congratulate the Paris RollerGirls’ organization and confided that he wished that all the clubs using the gym were as squared as us. Epic Win! …And Epic Reward for the girls who spent sleepless night sweating on the event - Marion could tell you more about it than me.
