Brand New Key

Crazy DBX5 boot + Venus plate + Rewind Grip XXX 90 A Wheels

"I ride my bike, I roller skate, don't drive no car
Don't go too fast but I go pretty far
For somebody who don't drive I've been all around the world
Some people say I've done alright for a girl

Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key
I think that we should get together
And try them out, you see"

BOOTCRAMP Berry

This weekend, I was coaching in a BootcRamp in Bourges (fra) together with Wheely Wonka and Cherry LieLie, while Maëlstrom and Watzé were running a ref clinic in parallel.
The Paris RollerGirls were in da place, baby!

The event was extremely well organized and ran smoothly from A to Z. Seven out of the nine of us who were staying at Mojo Mama's place were sleeping in Oto's room (her two-year old son). Three words: Pa-ra-dise. It is only one word indeed, but it is worth three at least. Tons and tons of toys. A room carpeted with mattresses. A childhood dream!

Thank god the bootcramp participants did not see us like that, we would have lost all credibility. Forever. Ever.

Saturday. Cracking start.

Most of us arrived on Friday evening, but the event started on Saturday at 1PM. Yet, we were in the gym at 9AM to help setting up the track and everything, and we all had lunch together after a brief but efficient general presentation: organizers, coaches, refs and participants.

FMyLife #9: Merry Christmas!

YAY!

Have ALL my authorizations for my third rehab stay!
Too good to be true.

Am facing a dilemma:
  1. Entering December 10th and missing Christmas.
  2. Entering December 26th and missing New Year's Eve.
Yet, am allowed to take one night out for Xmas.
Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas!

Be There or Be Square

-- Last Thursday was Rockabilly Party Time!

Sally Broyeur landed with an underground hall she had booked for a concert which was cancelled.
We had the place already, let's have a multipurpose-party: support party, introduction of the Paris RollerGirls freshmeats, preview of the 2013 calendar, merchandizing and surprises!

The place was a charming rock'n roll basement under the Belushi's Club, very comfy with a bar and a small stage, and the theme was 50's-60's Rockabilly. Simple and efficient.

We danced all night to the sounds of the three DJs, DJ Winny Mc CORMICK (house, hip hop), DJ SID (dj drum and bass) and SYLVANIE DE LUTECE.
Meanwhile, the photos of the 'making of' of the Calendar were following one another on the wall thanks to Butch's projector. And from time to time we would have a break: we officially welcomed our freshmeats on stage, our president made a small speech, the calendar team unveiled the cover of the calendar which Mrs. Hyde had printed on a canvas sheet at work...

YES YOU CAN!
...pre-order the 2013 Calendar on the Paris RollerGirls' Website!

The project was run by High Wheels (A.D.) and Crapule (photographer, who shot our roster-faces last year) and had already met a great success for last year's edition. It was sold out in no time. Now that 2012 is over, all the shots are viewable on our facebook fanpage.

If that is not enough to convince you, check out the 2013 teasers made by Mouflette.

Facebook FanPage

-- I am taking the plunge!

I have had a facebook fanpage for a couple of years already, but in my defense I did not create it! A friend of mine asked for permission, opened it and ran it for some time. I would even refuse to be linked the page! But little by little he got the better of me, adding me as an admin, then telling me to suppress him and try out my wings.
I left it as a wastepage for months (years?) until I got told off by my bro' who quite rightly told me that it was useless and a real shame. Then I started to take more care of it and update it more often.

I find the concept very megalomaniac, though.
So that I have never advertized for it.

FMyLife #8

-- Last and (hopefully) final episode of a loooong headbanging story: Validating my third stay in rehab!
By the way, when I talk about rehab, I mean physiotherapy! I clarify it here because it put me into funny situations. Like that time when the organizer of the World Freestyle Skating Championships confessed to me that she had been quite shocked to learn about my rehab adventures: she had understood alcohol and drugs. FYI I judged 90% of the competition...

In my last FMyLife post about it, I recounted the episode of the phone call to my insurance when they innocently asked me if I wanted an official paper vouching for the tacit agreement of their medical control.

I was naive enough to assume that my days of fighting were finally over.
Chapter #1: The Downward Spiral.
Last week, the medical control called me again and told me that:
"Hi... err... I was calling to tell you that the operator who anounced you that your file was validated... well, she misinterpreted the data on her computer. It is just said that the medical control saw your request. Not that they agreed to it. But here's their number, so call them maybe."

Alright. Here we go again.

Hell on Wheels: Gent Cuberdonnas Vs. Paris A

Paris RollerGirls All-Stars (132-182) Gent Cuberdonnas
October 27th, 2012 / Gent (BEL)

"Trick or Treat." -- This is a subjective report on how I experienced the event. In no case what I say below should be taken as a general truth.

REMATCH

It has been two weeks and I already have the feeling that it is a faraway memory. As explained in a previous post, it was my very first bout for almost a year (11 months... dude, there is a thing going on with that number)! And it was the rematch of last year's Opération Tonnerre which happened at (almost) the same date in Paris.
LOCATION

The game took place in a remote sports hall in the suburbs of Gent, Belgium. There were not that many people in the public but the ground was perfect and some motivated French rollergirls had made the trip from Lille and Reims to support us. So that when the MC would say:
"When I say 'Go-Go' you say 'Gent': Go-Go...?"
"PARIS!! *clap-clap-clap* PARIS!! *clap-clap-clap*"
-- I have the video to prove it!
