PRG-CPHG: Quedalles Vs. Kick Ass Cuties

Twice doesn't make it a habit, but the two following articles are going to be in French. It's a two-part full report on the Double-Header opposing both the A and B Teams of the Paris RollerGirls and Copenhagen Roller Derby.
Ce samedi a eu lieu le premier « Double-Header » organisé par les Paris RollerGirls au Gymnase de Bercy, à Paris. L’événement opposait les PRG aux derbygirls de Copenhague dans deux matchs d’affilée.

Akouphen's "Shit Talker" (Cheap Clip)

Another unjustified post in this derby diary? Not at all: It's not just about music, it's about skating too!
I convey that it's not exactly about derby, but in my defence I will just remind that before being a derby girl, I'm above all a skater (... including a derbygirl, you got it right).
Now let's get back to the point!

Our second album is finally entering the last phase of the process: being pressed! The issuing of the real CD will be coupled with that of a videoclip (nope, I will not give away the title of the chosen song).
ΣLΣVΣN was born virtually last november, on the 11.11.11 of course, but now we're getting ready for its coming into the real world.

In order to ease the waiting of all those great things coming, here is a cheap clip illustrating the song "Shit Talker" which I already talked about in a post about old women who fuss with you for no other reason than you having your skates on.

The episode, based on a true story (sadly enough), is more about being a typical example of the constant bullying skaters suffer from than being a fit of anger at that poor old lady who, unfortunately for her, happened to be the last straw.

FMyLife #2: Metro

Today, and as always, I hate taking the Parisian metro.
Today, and for five months, it is my only "long" distance transport option.

Today, and for two months, the doors of my physio's metro station reminds me how small I am, refusing to let me out as their detector is slightly above my own height.
Today, and each time I pass those doors, I wish I had my skates on to gain 10 cm and stop making a fool of myself in punching it open.

But then, if I had my skates on, I wouldn't need to take the metro, right?

Lipsticks & Mouthguards

"Rouge à Lèvres et Protège Dents" was the title of the bout opposing the Paris Rollergirls B Team, the Quedalles, to Anvers's One Love Roller Dolls (10 A-players out of 14) on Saturday 14th, for the Titanic's 100th anniversary and my dad's birthday.

It was organized in Lille, half-way between the two cities, on the occasion of the "Quinzaine de l'Entorse" (Two weeks of the Infringement Association) in partnership with the "Rencontres Féministes" (Feminist Encounters Association). These Two Weeks, the aim of which is to highlight links between arts and sports, have been perpetrated for a few years now...

With Wonka, we were put up at one of the organizers' apartment, a two-storey place she shares with  three other flatmates. Great place, great people!

FMyLife #1: Lazy leg squats

Today, in showing the next warm-up drill to the whole roller derby class:

"... And then, while the first half of you is doing 5 laps, the other half is doing wall squats leaning on your toe stops like that no to..." *WHAMBAM* fall.

I had forgotten the lazy leg parameter in a fit of enthusiasm. FML

Strawhat Dangers Vs. Foxy Devils

The other day, there was this anime manga called "One Piece" on TV.
Alright, I was watching TV with one eye and working on my computer with the other eye (such a shame I only got two!)... when the voice of a cartoon speaker caught the other half of my attention:
"The third game will be the Rollerskate Raaace!"

I was amused to discover, in listening to the rules and watching the explanative animation, that the race was a not-so-distant relative of Roller Derby! There are some strange similarities both in the rules and in the looks of the players...

Rollerdancing in a Pig Sty

Seems that it is the series of music video clip publications! Springtime is inspiring...

Here is the clip of the song "Pig Sty" by the Kid Bombardos, a band from Bordeaux, staging my rollerdance crew in a street basketball court remembering the previous night's party.

I must say that I'm a bit sad not to have taken part in it because they look pretty badass!

You may have recognized some of them from other music clips here and there... but this new one is my favorite by far!

Aouaneugaine Amistoufly

Yeah... That's the title of the song by Fishing With Guns, the video clip of which some of the Paris Rollergirls took part in a year ago.
In september, I had already published the teaser, which is short but worth being watched too, in that post.
Enjoy the fight!
