3 Stripes Challenge: La Main Vs. Adidas

There is this video challenge to win this undefined and unclear sponsorship with the brand. The aim is to prove that you have a great social network in enhancing your friends to go on the brand's website and like the video of your crew. The video with the more <3 wins.

As explained in a previous post, for the challengers, it is above all the opportunity to get free visibility and create a buzz.

I presented you earlier the western spaghetti movie remake "Le Ref Sifflera Quatre Fois" by the Paris RollerGirls, and now I am going to introduce the video of the second crew I am part of. No preferential treatment!

3 Stripes Challenge: Le ref sifflera quatre fois

The brand with the three stripes launched a "crew" challenge, the aim of which is simple:
  1. Upload as much multimedia material as possible on their website
  2. Share them with as many friends as possible
  3. Make them <3 your crew's production(s) on the brand's platform
  4. Pray that you have the most views/likes to win an official sponsoring.
By lauching the operation, the brand gets new advert ideas for free.
By taking part in the operation, the crews are highlighted for free.
I am not quite sure that it is totally fair, but I guess it must be a good opportunity for both parts...

You have 15 days, starting NOW. Tempting, isn't it?

My 2012 World Freestyle Skating Champ's

A short summary: judging, writing, sleeping, eating, judging, writing, judging, eating, sleeping, judging, judging, writing, etc.

JETLAG
After my trip in the USA for the RollerCon and the rest (here and there), I crossed the Earth to the other side to go to China. Do you know the ping-pong jetlag effect? From -9h California to +6h China!

from -9 to +6

Hardcore? Surprisingly not that much... Reaching a certain point, being jetlagged becomes a non-countable fact, period. You are not a bit or a lot jetlagged, you are just jetlagged and you deal with it. Especially when you arrive the afternoon before the World Championships of Freestyle Slalom and you have to judge them!
And even if you had to suffer a 23-hour trip with one train (Paris-Brussel), one international flight (Brussel-Beijing), one internal flight (Beijing-Wenzhu) and one shuttle bus (Wenzhu-Lishui). Alone.
Don't pity me on the loneliness though, I love travelling by myself. I was just trying to be pitied a bit more.

LesAutresMondes: Akouphen Press Column

LesAutresMondes.info is a French webzine supporting women in music (a very noble cause), and is mainly specialized in Rock, Punk-Rock, Metal and Electro styles.

It lists lots of bands with at least one woman taking part, offers interviews and album press columns. It also has a calendar with upcoming events and reports on past events. And of course it is equipped with a forum.
All the articles are written with great care, and their reflexions and comments are not void or empty. No political cant here. Only passionnate people sharing worthy information.

The webzine had already contacted us for my band's first album entitled FACE.A and had written a nice column about it.

We naturally contacted them again for our second album ΣLΣVΣN and they treated us with a very detailed and careful column covering most of the songs of the album. Actually, I feel very flattered!

www.lesautresmondes.info

"Après une longue pause, Akouphën reprend du service et sort aujourd'hui son deuxième album, "ELEVEN". Pour ceux qui auraient besoin de se refraichir la mémoire, Akouphën est un duo formé par Kloë et TBJ, proposant un Rock Electro très disparate. TBJ (Jean) est chargé de la composition instrumentale, de l'enregistrement et du mixage. Kloë (Chloé Seyrès) s'occupe de l'écriture et du chant. Pas d'instrument chez (...)"

Derbynterview on 100% Quad

I know what you're thinking: "She hasn't been skating a lot lately but she's been talking!"
Yeah. Alright. I compensate the way I can. But I do skate in private. And I will make my public comeback preview at the RollerCon next week. Cross my heart!
For the real derby comeback I'll have to wait a couple more months. But let's stop brooding over it.

100% Quad at www.rollerquad.net

I was contacted by the webmaster of 100% Quad for a quad interview.
I am kind of touched by the request as it is the quad-skating extension to RollerFR, and they both dominated the French skating Internet scene in the 2000's... They were very active with interviews, equipment tests, skate customizations... and freeskate video contests! (to make it short)

As I was intent on presenting the website accurately, I asked the webmaster to do so:

Skating-Music Interview on TÊTUE.COM

The title speaks for itself. I was contacted by the French gay magazine for an interview as 1) the singer of a band and 2) a world-renouned skater.

Akouphën's last music video having been in their music video selection of the moment, they came back to me after a couple of days to ask me for extra information! The interview was out a couple of days ago and it goes back on the history of the band and my history as a skater and it is illustrated with various (cool) videos.
... Fame, we're coming!

Being a gay magazine, they obviously exaggerated that part of me, but how could I bear the grudge against them for that...?

(Not) Sorry

I'm aware that I'm being opportunistic and I'm (not) sorry for that, but let's seize the occasion of Music Day to go back on my band's brand new music video!

In a previous post I had warned you about lots of new exciting things coming for my band Akouphën. Fortunately, they all happened (and on time!)
  1. First of all, our second album ΣLΣVΣN ©2011, digitally issued last november, has finally been PRESSED and is now available in its CD version with a great record sleeve full of pictures and lyrics.
  2. And secondly, to celebrate the long-awaited release, we have made a MUSIC VIDEO for one of the hit songs of the album: "(Not) Sorry".
Directed by Louis Moncouyoux of Vanksen communication agency, the video was shot in March in a disused roller-rink. You should know by now that I ALWAYS arrange things so that there is a reference to skating somehow!

We wanted it sober and professional and I'm satisfied with the final result.
I had sad feedbacks from some people who deplored that I was not on wheels but (again) I could hardly go down stairs at that time!
Anyway if you really want to see me skate to my music, you can have a look at my 2010 Slalom Profile!

Enjoy the video and feel free to share!

PRG-CPHG: Quedalles Vs. Kick Ass Cuties

Lipsticks & Mouthguards

"Rouge à Lèvres et Protège Dents" was the title of the bout opposing the Paris Rollergirls B Team, the Quedalles, to Anvers's One Love Roller Dolls (10 A-players out of 14) on Saturday 14th, for the Titanic's 100th anniversary and my dad's birthday.

It was organized in Lille, half-way between the two cities, on the occasion of the "Quinzaine de l'Entorse" (Two weeks of the Infringement Association) in partnership with the "Rencontres Féministes" (Feminist Encounters Association). These Two Weeks, the aim of which is to highlight links between arts and sports, have been perpetrated for a few years now...

With Wonka, we were put up at one of the organizers' apartment, a two-storey place she shares with  three other flatmates. Great place, great people!

Strawhat Dangers Vs. Foxy Devils

The other day, there was this anime manga called "One Piece" on TV.
Alright, I was watching TV with one eye and working on my computer with the other eye (such a shame I only got two!)... when the voice of a cartoon speaker caught the other half of my attention:
"The third game will be the Rollerskate Raaace!"

I was amused to discover, in listening to the rules and watching the explanative animation, that the race was a not-so-distant relative of Roller Derby! There are some strange similarities both in the rules and in the looks of the players...

Kozmic Derbynterview on MUNDO DERBY

A couple of weeks ago, JustMean of the brand-new Latin-American Derby Website MUNDO DERBY, asked me for an interview. I was all the more flattered (not to say excited and proud) that it was my first real derbynterview. CHECK IT OUT HERE:

I decided to return the favor in advertizing for their website here. I was a bit worried because it is integrally in Spanish and I don’t speak a word of Spanish.
In order to be sure that the information I was going to spread was accurate, I had the idea to interview my interviewer! Haha!.
My interviewed interviewer is JustMean #17 and she belongs to the amateur team of the Sailor City-Rollers in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Roller Derby explained by PRG

Most leagues have their own explanative video describing what roller derby *really* is. Now the Paris RollerGirls have one too thanks to the awesome job of our Media Committee.

The video is made of selected footages from bouts of the last season illustrated by a voice-over as sweet as professional explaining the basic rules of roller derby for neophytes. And on top of it you can enjoy the amazing soundtrack by Fishing With Guns and Akouphën!

I am Legend... am I?

Lately, SebaSkates added me to the "Legend" skaters of the team!

Seba is my inline skating sponsor who, in 2007, offered me to enter the freestyle skating Dream Team, the Seba Team. Since then, I had the chance to travel around the world and take part in hundreds of freestyle competitions thanks to Seba. I'm still representing the brand each time I get the occasion, and I recently started to take part in SkateCross competitions under the Seba colors.

The "Legend" labelling is a great honor and I'm proud to achieve this position while I'm still alive (haha).

Have a look at my PROFILE on the SebaSkates Website.

...and if you want to know more about that addictive sport and the life I had before, check out my freestyle website: Close Yr E's -- It's all about rock'n rollerskating...

Rock'n Roulettes (Article)

This is a brand-new article written by Dorothée Duchemin for Citazine webmagazine, entitled "Rock'n Roulettes". The journalist attended our last bout against the Gent Go-Go Girls and mixed her feelings of the show with interviews and historical researches.

A captivating and lively article -- although you can spot a couple of mistakes as for the rules. But the atmosphere and spirit are there. And it makes you want to put your skates on!!

Opération Tonnerre: PRG Vs. Go-Go Gent

I haven’t been writing much lately – I mean, actually I did write a lot, for work, which is why I couldn’t take care of this blog. Still I take the time to report on the match of last weekend Opération Tonnerre, featuring the Paris RollerGirls Vs. the Gent Go-Go RollerGirls.

ORGANIZATION & BERCY VENUE
We had managed to get the Bercy Venue just like for Goldfinger against Malmö last June, after weeks of pleading and harassing for them to give us a second chance. We were quite late on the schedule last time and they didn’t like it at all.

This time we had learned from our previous mistakes and the organization was close to perfection, so that the keeper of the gym even came to congratulate the Paris RollerGirls’ organization and confided that he wished that all the clubs using the gym were as squared as us. Epic Win! …And Epic Reward for the girls who spent sleepless night sweating on the event - Marion could tell you more about it than me.

Paris RollerGirls Open Practice on TV

On Monday Sept. 12th, we organized an Open Practice in our "new" gym at Saint Denis, in the suburb of Paris.
I put "new" in brackets because in reality it's an old municipal gym, mainly used by the school next door, and by the local skating club during the evenings of the week. We managed to get a time slot on Monday evenings thanks to a partnership with the SDUS skating club.
This open evening was also our first official practice after the summer break. We were expecting more visitors, but it was for the best as the gym is quite small: it was crowded and sometimes the fright was worth the coming... wheels and plates were flying close! Haha.

The TV showed up and we had a nice report on CANAL+ a couple of days after. They made a cute edit, mixing footages of drills and scrimmages as well as interviews.
TF1, another national channel, came to get their bearings for an upcoming show... More information soon I hope!

Oh My GOSH !!

Gosh -- TheGoshWorld.blogspot.com

A couple of months ago, Sailor Blood came across a badass blog with badass illustrations wrapped up with badass humor. I won't bother you with all the details because this is a long story about a google search, smurfs and latex -- Yeah... long AND freaky!

Anyway, she cliks on the link to the website, browses a bit and *WhamBam* she discovers an illustration of a super-stylish rollergirl. She can't help but contacting him and inviting him to a bout. As the guy does photography too, he asks if he can take pictures of a game some time.

Exciting, hu? Even more when she discovers the story of their mail exchange two days later on the blog, with an awesome fake cover of a skating magazine staging a roller-derby bout.

You're wanting a name don't you?
He is called GOSH and he's pegging away on

We all met him yesterday at practice, at last! The encounter is related through his first set of pictures of us on his photography blog, under the title "Hey Ladies... First Try"
